Adventurer’s to-do list 2016

What you desire is what you attract to yourself

I have always been a dreamer and since the travel bug bit me five years ago I can not stop dreaming of new adventures. I have made hundreds of wishlists (I also happen to be a list building maniac) and after all I am really happy to say that I’ve fulfilled a reasonable amount of my dreams (yey!).

There are many many examples of things happening, that I can give you. And I have also seen many many cases of just the opposite – things NOT happening. Surprisingly, the problem for that is not money. It’s attitude! If you are skeptical about it, yes, you probably won’t fulfill your big dream. But if you believe in it, if you are open minded, if you are positive about it – you are off to a good start! Negative people have a problem for every solution and I always remind myself of that, making sure that I don’t become one. After all, what you desire is what you attract to yourself.

So, think about it. What do you want to attract to yourself in 2016? Which of your dreams do you want to fulfill right now? I’ve given it some thought and here are my top ideas for 2016 and ahead!

Buy an InterRail pass and make a tour of Europe

The Glacier Express. (photo source: Facebook Interrail)

The InterRail pass is something amazing. It’s a railway ticket which allows you unlimited rail travel in Europe for a certain period of time, which means you have the freedom of going everywhere you want! And if taking trains to get around is not the most romantic way to travel in Europe, I stand corrected! I could not imagine a more idyllic picture, than me, riding on the warm and cozy train while enjoying the panoramic views of snow-capped mountains, breathtaking rivers, magical castles, and charming villages…

One ride I know I want to take for sure is on the Glacier Express scenic train. It links St-Moritz and Zermatt, which basically means you get to make a trip right through the Alpine heartland of Switzerland.

Interrail regularly gives away some coupons for free. So, the easiest thing I could do, starting now, is to check out their website and Facebook page regularly and see if I am lucky enough to win one. Ho-ho, wish me luck!

Try Airbnb in Oia, Greece

I want to try Airbnb and I know exactly where I want to be my first time: in Oia, Greece. Oia or Ia  is a small town on the islands of Thira (Santorini) and it’s one of the most picturesque places I’ve ever seen. I would love to spend a week or two living there, feeling as if I was born in this little paradise. Airbnb happens to be just perfect for achieving this, and it will also help experiencing the city like a local.

For those of you who are not familiar with Airbnb, it’s a website where people can list, find and rent some unique accommodations anywhere in the world. I’ve already check out the homes that are available for rent in Oia and there are some great places! Plus, also at an affordable price. I am already getting excited! Beautiful Oia sunsets, wait for me, I am coming…

Walk the Lycian Way in Turkey

Trekking on the Lycian Way, Turkey. (photo source:

A friend of mine showed me a few pictures from her trip and I already wanted to go! It’s so beautiful! Just google “Lycian Way” and see for yourself.

The Lycian Way is a 540 km, 29-day way-marked footpath around the coast of Lycia in southern Turkey, from Fethiye to Antalya. An incredible coastal walk through history and a challenge for every adventurer! The trail goes through deserted beaches, mountain peaks, ancient ruins… Every night you find a different accommodation in village houses, pensions or small hotels. There are also plenty of camping places with nearby water. The actual hike takes around 30 days, but you can always just do a part of it. Though, I really want to take the challenge of doing the whole trail.

Be back in the amazing Portugal

Be back in Portugal, where people are happy. Things to do there:

  • Be happy.
  • Learn how to surf.
  • Travel through the South of the country.

Portugal is my heaven on earth. I want to go back to Lisbon during June, when Festas dos Santos Populares are held. These are special celebrations of of St. John and St. Peter throughout Portugal. In Lisbon, they celebrate the feast of St. Anthony, who is the city’s patron saint. For a full month, people are dancing at street parties, listening to Fado music and eating grilled sardines! For me, it’s a celebration of life. The Portuguese know how to live and enjoy life right now, and I think that’s just admirable!

Visit the Seven Rila Lakes in Bulgaria
View over the Seven Rila Lakes, Bulgaria. (

It has been on top of my lists for the past few years and I think it’s about time I actually did it!

The Seven Rila Lakes are a group of lakes situated in the northwestern Rila Mountains in Bulgaria. Each lake carries a name associated with its most characteristic feature. Their names are: “The Tear”, “The Eye”, “The Kidney”, “The Twin”, “The Trefoil”, “The Fish Lake”, “The Lower Lake”.

The Seven Lakes are a main tourist attraction in Bulgaria because of the inspiring natural beauty of the place.

Go to EXIT and Sea Dance Festival

The Petrovaradin Fortress in Novi Sad, Serbia. (photosource: Facebook EXIT Festival)

I want to once again go to EXIT Festival in Serbia and for the very first time go to Sea Dance Festival in Montenegro. EXIT is a summer music festival held in the Petrovaradin Fortress in the city of Novi Sad, whereas Sea Dance is… well, it’s sea edition. EXIT usually has up to 16 stages with different types of music on each. During this year’s fifteenth edition performed artists like Manu Chao, Faithless, Emeli Sandé, John Newman, Capital Cities, Martin Garix, Hardwell and many many more. EXIT is once-in-a-lifetime kind of experience.

Another thing that is great about EXIT is that it is held in Serbia where prices are really low! It’s the only place I’ve visited and came back home with some cash (which is quite something for someone like me).

I want to once again go to Pabić and enjoy the best coffee I’ve tasted so far in my life. Eat pljeskavica in Bubi Grill next to the stadium. Sit by the river during sunset time, drinking a Serbian energy drink. Lay down in the park during the hot afternoon hours, tired from the sleepless nights. Watch the fireworks light up the sky and the Petrovaradin Fortress… Once in a lifetime…
